House
Just in case anyone was wondering, I haven't given up on House of Leaves. I have just gotten a little stalled out in the appendices at the end. So I'm not quite done yet (though maybe for all intents and purposes, I am).
I will post a more lengthy post when I am officially done, but for now, I will say it knocked my socks off (and also made me feel as if I wouldn't want to meet the author in a dark alley!). But it's really, really amazing. And it was very unsettling indeed.
That's all for now. Hopefully I will get through those appendices soon but I am still kind of dragging what with some long hours at work, which of course leads to the inevitable flake-out-on-the-couch syndrome.

Yeah, the appendices do drag a bit. Glad you've liked it, though.
I'll warn you ahead of time not to bother with his other published work, Whalestoe Letters. It's a collection of letters between the main character (the guy who finds the manuscript) of House and his crazy mother, many of which already appeared in House. It was a letdown. I've heard rumors that he's working on something new, something completely different.
Do be careful, that flake out on the couch syndrome is highly contagious, best to stay indoors and avoid contact with others.
I suggest resting. Perhaps with tea, on a sofa.
Ha, Hebdomeros, too funny that he went ahead and capitalized on House in that manner. Thanks for warning me against it though... I wouldn't want to get let down!

Girlzoot, I think it is contagious. And I do find tea and the sofa a great complement for the condition. ;) Actually, tonight it was hot cocoa and the sofa... though I did drag myself out for Japanese food, which was nice.
